Charging

Home chargers, portable EVSEs, adapters, and installation gear.

Charging splits into two problems that often get conflated. A fixed home charger is a wiring decision as much as a purchase — the circuit is sized at 125% of the charger's draw, so amperage drives install cost more than hardware cost does. Portable units solve a different problem, trading output and permanence for going wherever the car goes. Both hinge on connector type, NACS or J1772, and on what your car's onboard charger actually accepts, which is frequently lower than the wall unit can deliver.
